England’s accomplishment
And what it took to accomplish it

In 1607 some Englishmen decided to sail to the New World to find gold. They landed their massive ship in Virginia and named it Jamestown, after King James. The land they found land was a large swampy wilderness. These men were so lazy they did not work at all. After a few months, about half of the men died. So Captain John White decided to make a rule that whoever didn’t work, didn’t eat. Though they never found gold they wanted to find, they did find tobacco. They sold it by the ton to England, and they grew wealthy. Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement.
